The Challenge: Christopher’s Haven, located in Boston’s West End, is a nonprofit organization that provides free housing for families of children undergoing cancer treatment at nearby hospitals. Each of their 9 apartments, along with their community recreation area, all had different tech features and capabilities manufactured different brands, leading to multiple remote controls and configurations for their various TVs, DVD players and video game systems. This made it complicated and sometimes frustrating for the children, and time consuming for Christopher’s Haven staff who spent considerable time teaching new and existing families how everything worked.

The Approach: Inspired Technology heard about the good works of Christopher’s Haven through some mutual friends, and had seen the organization profiled by local news outlets including WCVB-TV Channel 5, Boston Globe and the Boston Herald. When they heard the organization was facing technology and A/V issues for the families they served, they immediately thought of ways to help out since this is exactly the type of work Inspired carries out for other nonprofits throughout New England. Next step was for the Inspired team to visit CH headquarters and see the issues first-hand.

Results: In less than 2 weeks, the Inspired team outfitted all 10 rooms, replacing the outdated TVs and their remotes with 18 Samsung TVs, while adding 18 Blu-ray players, 18 RTI XP3 Processors, 18 SurfIRs, 2 XBOX ONE gaming consoles and 1 Sonos sound bar with one single remote control to effortlessly control it all – all professionally installed, setup and programmed by the Inspired team.
